Colonial Williamsburg
I first visited Colonial Williamsburg on a school trip in eighth grade and have held an abiding affection for the place ever since. That experience inspired a sustained interest in early American history, which I pursued throughout my academic career. Yet it was not solely the history that captivated me—it was also the architecture and the inherent beauty of the town itself. I had the privilege of living there for three years and continue to return as often as possible.

My connection to Williamsburg is not merely academic; it is also familial. I am a descendant of Dr. Kenneth McKenzie, who, circa 1745, operated an apothecary shop on Palace Green and resided on the site where the reconstructed Orlando Jones House now stands on Duke of Gloucester Street. Additionally, one of my ancestors, Colonel John Page, served on the Royal Council, was the first to donate land for Bruton Parish Church, and was among the founders of the College of William & Mary.
